Dr. Niki Carayannopoulos is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in trauma, acute injury, and reconstructive surgery in both pediatric and adult patients. With over a decade of experience in minimally invasive procedures—including arthroscopy of the upper and lower extremities and endoscopic carpal tunnel release—she has earned national and international recognition. As a prestigious AO Trauma faculty member, she teaches advanced surgical techniques to residents and practicing surgeons worldwide. In addition to her surgical expertise, she is a published researcher with numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations, and has contributed to Department of Defense–funded studies on long bone defect management.

A Chicago native, Dr. Carayannopoulos earned dual undergraduate degrees from Southwestern University and her medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She completed her orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where she received multiple research and academic awards, followed by advanced fellowships in Hannover, Germany, and at Duke University Medical Center. Recruited to UTMB as Chief of Orthopedic Trauma Surgery, she built one of the busiest clinical practices in the institution and later relocated to the Houston area, where she continues to treat patients with exceptional outcomes. Recognized repeatedly as one of Houston’s “Top Doctors” and a “Texas Super Doctor,” she also serves as the Texas State Representative to the Board of Councilors of the Southern Orthopedic Association.
