Benoy V. Benny, MD, is a board-certified specialist in Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine and Spine & Sports Medicine at Minivasive Pain & Orthopedics, serving patients throughout the Greater Houston area. A native of Trinidad with roots in Canada and the U.S., Dr. Benny earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, followed by post-baccalaureate studies at Memphis State University. He obtained his medical degree from the University of the West Indies Faculty of Medical Sciences in Trinidad, where he graduated as Silver Medalist, ranking second overall in his class. Dr. Benny completed a transitional year internship at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation through the Baylor College of Medicine/University of Texas-Houston Alliance, serving as Educational Chief Resident. He further specialized with a fellowship in Interventional Spine, Pain, and Musculoskeletal Medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Dr. Benny excels in treating a spectrum of conditions, including acute and chronic spine disorders, sports injuries, musculoskeletal pain, and electrodiagnostic issues via EMG/NCS. His expertise encompasses minimally invasive procedures like epidural injections, facet blocks, and regenerative therapies, aligning seamlessly with Minivasive’s commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care that minimizes downtime and maximizes outcomes.
As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Benny serves as Director of the Fellowship in Interventional Spine, Sports, and Pain Medicine and teaches fellows at Houston Methodist Primary Care Sports Medicine. He is a fellowship director for the first North American Spine Society-accredited program in Houston and contributes to resident education at Memorial Hermann, UT Houston, and Baylor. A prolific educator and researcher, Dr. Benny has authored peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and national presentations on topics like epidural injections and pain management. He holds memberships in the North American Spine Society, Spine Intervention Society, American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and American College of Sports Medicine.
